Wellbeing

The East Sussex programme has a strong focus on promoting trainees’ happiness, sense of fulfilment and wellbeing. Find out more about some of the ways we approach this below.

Peer and programme support: at the East Sussex GP Training Programme, we run “PD Groups” – similar to a tutor group with trainees from all stages of their GP training and a programme director. As part of each training session we meet in our groups to discuss any issues or challenges we are facing. If you are having difficulties, it may be that a colleague in your PD group might have been through something similar before and can help. Likewise, your programme directors will also be able to offer advice and support.

Wellbeing programmes: we have a strong focus on promoting wellbeing, with frequent sessions exploring the topic. Recent speakers on the topic have included Dr Roshni Beeharry, who led a creative writing workshop, and Dr Caroline Walker (the Joyful Doctor), who led a workshop on personal wellbeing. Programme trainees have also led wellbeing sessions, ranging from a series of wellbeing workshops to facilitated discussions and a book club.
